My hat off to 'Nie Nie'

I've been reading the blog of an amazing, creative woman, burned terribly in a plane crash last year. Her name is Stephanie Aurora Clark Nielson and you can follow her blog here. She is a wife, mother, sister and clearly a very talented woman. I love these easter baskets she made for her children. May you get well soon. God bless.

Working with T Bag Designs

What a joy!

I am so excited to be working with Original T Bag Designs. A community developement project in Hout Bay providing employment and the fulfulment of dreams for people living in ImiZamu Yethu.

This is a 'conversation' in design as I interpret the designs painted by the artists on t bags. Original T Bag Designs use recycled tbags to provide a canvas for painting. These mini artworks are then made into cards and used for decopage.

The picture above shows how I have interpreted some of the designs. I am so looking forward to seeing this range selling well in support of Original T Bag Designs. I'll keep you posted and of course post a sneek preview!

Patterns in nature

I love the way nature is so ordered. Patterns, shapes and sizes all ordered! My sabatical in Hermanus involved lots of 'me time' long periods open for photography, drawing and savouring creation in all it's glory.

What a pleasure, being able to drink in all the color. Hear the ocean. Smell the fynbos. My ultimate pleasure.

So now I am back home, my girls are on holiday until Tuesday. Nigel leaves for Plett to facilitate a Sustainable Living Course. So in other words life goes on, all the better for me having to have had a breather though.

This is my favourite view of all time, the Gordon's Bay to Rooi Els Road. It just sums up the rugged beauty that I love about living in Cape Town!!

I hear that congratulations are in order!

Last night was the SA Blog Awards and Shane from Yuppiechef was there - he tells me that two of my favourite blogs won their respective categories - well done to Urbansprout - best green blog and to Skinny Laminx best design blog.

So I've packed my bags, my man is looking after the kids, and I'm off to Hermanus tomorrow. Will be taking the scenic route via Rooi Els and Hangklip. So looking forward to some me time.
Will chat again when I am back. This by the way is my beautiful garden!

Thrilling Thursday

I've been to the printers, yesterday, and collected the stationary, the kiddies stuff is soooo cute. Am going to Fernkloof Nature Reserve in Hermanus this weekend. Lots of opportunities for sketching and just chilling.

I did some cards and jotters called "View from my window" - I was sitting in the studio (Well corner of the lounge actually!) and looked out and the flower bed looked so great so I sketched some of the beauties that are residing there - quick, black and white and to the point! They have come up really great in print. I am enjoying the spontaneity of this process, draw, design, print - quick and easy.

Hoping to pick up some readers soon, this feels rather like talking to myself...

Better go, Hermanus calls.

Cheers for now
